Next steps

I suppose it was always an option but I just refused to accept it as an option. I'm pulling out of the Norway section of the World Cup. My ankle has not healed to the extent that I had (perhaps over ambitiously) hoped it would. I'm not giving up on the season though, the intention is to give it 2 weeks to recover and then head down to the US for the 5 WC races down there. We'll see what the budget looks like and my recovery time, I may even be able to go to the second round of the WC in Europe later in March.

A tough decision to make but TSCT's very unsupportive response made me realize that it really isn't a good idea to go to Norway with an injury. Very likely that I would go, race, and hurt it more. Better to stay here, work a bit (believe it or not) and recover. Recover with physio and rest and hopefully by the time the WC in the states rolls in, I'll be ready to charge!

It's super disapointing. The day or two before I hurt myselt, I was really starting to feel like I was skiing well, with speed, impulse, and confidence.

In some way's it's nice to know I'm not the only one...Kelsey Serwa of the Canada Ski Cross Team also just injured herself, she is out for the season. "I’ll have to save it for another year,” Serwa said of the battle for the overall World Cup title. “I’m just going to rest and recover, try to keep my muscle (strength) and stay in a positive mindset. You hear of so many examples of people coming back before they are ready. I will see where I am at the start of next season.” Words from an interview she had..very positive, very motivating and a good perspective for me.

Another email from a friend of mine said "now you can race the perfect race in your mind - over and over again so that when the real race starts it just unrolls and you don't have to think about it again." There will be a lot of mental training over the next few weeks.

I was also thinking of showing up with these in Steamboat...see if they'll let me race on them

Yes..those are telemark skis and bindings. Oh the potential :)
